Overland
by Ramcy Diek
Synopsis:
Skyla Overland is proud to work for Overland Insurance, the company founded by her grandfather. She enjoys sharing an apartment with her best friend, Pauline, and is in love with Edmond. Besides one nerve-wracking insurance fraud case in the past, her sheltered life is uneventful and just the way she likes it.
Until one day, everything changes…
Skyla and Troy, the manager at Overland Insurance, are the last ones to leave the office. In the empty parking lot, Troy takes her in his arms. Why would he ruin their easy-going friendship by kissing her, especially since he knows she’s dating Edmond?
Left alone, Skyla hurries to her car, puts on her seatbelt, and glances in her rearview mirror. The face of a stranger grins at her from the backseat. “How nice to see you again,” he hisses close to her ear.
Regaining consciousness, Skyla finds herself on the backseat of her own car, with her hands tied behind her back.
Is she getting kidnapped? Who is he? And where is he taking her?

Hello Ramcy! I'm really happy to have you here on my blog today! We've all read the synopsis of your book so I would start with the questions and ask you, what was the hardest part of writing this book?
Writing Overland took me to dark places I rather didn’t go, and I believe I’ll never write a story like this again. Maybe the difficult times of 2020 add to my sentiment. I can’t wait for better days.
2 - Overland appears to be a gripping thriller! Is this a genre you prefer to write or are there other genres you would like to try / have already tried?
I consider myself a romance author, but Overland turned into something totally different. Reviewers have told me: This is not romantic suspense. Overland is a dark and dramatic thriller!
My first novel, Storm at Keizer Manor, is a historically time travel romance and falls under paranormal. The story I’m working on now is a young adult, and I’m considering writing a memoir. So, I’m actually all over the place with my genres.
3. If you could pick a cast for a possible movie adaptation of your work, who would you choose as your protagonists?
The protagonist in Overland is 27 years old, an age I prefer to use in my novels, and I really have no idea who to choose among the young actors now. If it had been 20 years ago, I might have chosen Drew Barrymore.
4. And what scene would be absolutely crucial to include?
I’m a fast-paced writer and don’t think a single scene could be excluded.
My editor once said: Readers are not stupid; you don’t have to tell them each detail, they can fill in the blanks. That was advice I took to heart.
5. Talking about you now, who or what inspired you to become an author?
Because I get bored easy, a lot of books started to irritate me. Too much of the same. I can do that, I believed. Little did I know how difficult and how much work it would be.
6. Have you ever experienced a writer block while writing Overland? If yes, How did you overcome it?
I never experienced writer block, but believe I hit that issue now with my young adult. It’s heading into a direction I don’t want to go and I have the feeling it would be best to give it a rest and to move on to another project. Maybe the often asked for sequel of Storm at Keizer Manor. That will lift my spirit.
About the author
A long time ago, I fell in love with the United States while traveling around in an Oldsmobile station-wagon with my husband. We are both born and raised in the Netherlands.Together, we eventually found our way to the Pacific Northwest, built up a business, and raised our two boys into amazing young adults with their own careers. During this time, I also made a slow transition from reader to writer of many different stories. My multiple award winning debut novel "Storm at Keizer Manor" sets the bar high for my second novel, Eagles in Flight. All my books are stand alone novels in different genres. You might be in for a surprise, or a disappointment.Website / Goodreads / Facebook / Twitter / Instagram / Newsletter / Bookbub
